Endoscopy
Endoscopy procedures – also known as ‘scopes’ – are carried out in our day case Endoscopy Suite.
Scopes are long flexible tubes with a camera and light at the end to allow us to see inside your body.
The Golden Jubilee provides three types of endoscopy procedure:
- Gastroscopy is an investigation of your gullet, stomach and into the first part of your small bowel. This is usually carried out without sedation.
- Colonoscopy is an investigation of your large bowel. It is normal to be sedated for this procedure.
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy is an investigation of the first part of your large bowel. This is usually carried out without sedation.
