General Anaesthetists
The dedicated team of General Anaesthetists at NHS Golden Jubilee provide anaesthesia services for elective orthopaedic surgery, as well as general surgery, in order to help ensure that patients from all across Scotland receive their treatment in an effective, safe, and timely manner.
Forming a key part of a wider multidisciplinary team, the General Anaesthetists ensure that patients receive a high quality, patient centred service, at every step of the journey.
From assessment and optimisation in the Pre-operative Assessment Clinic, the intraoperative care, and the post-operative care and pain management, the team will work to ensure that every patient receives a consistent level of care throughout.
The team is made up of 13 Consultant Anaesthetists and 2 Associate Specialists.
With expertise in the Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA), the principles of perioperative medicine, Enhanced Recover After Surgery (ERAS), regional anaesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks, the General Anaesthetists provide support for more than 3,000 joint replacement procedures every year, in addition to general surgery day cases.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team played a vital role in NHS Scotland’s recovery plan, stepping in to provide peri-operative care and anaesthesia for urgent cancer procedures for patients across the country.
Our aim is to ensure, that all of our patients have a comfortable, safe and pleasant experience while they are with us. We will accomplish this by delivery safe, effective and person centred care for everyone who comes through our doors.
