Our Medical Education team aims to deliver a robust clinical education strategy for our undergraduate students, resident doctors, doctors in training, physician associates, SAS doctors, and consultants.
Director of Medical Education (DME)
Dr Lorna Swan is the NHS Golden Jubilee DME. She leads the Medical Education team and coordinates all aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Please reach out to her directly if you have any ideas or suggestions related to Medical Education. Dr Swan also hosts the Medical Education Forum which meets every 4 months.

General Surgery:
- Ms Erin McIlveen, Consultant General/GI Surgeon
Undergraduate Clinical Teaching Fellows
We have a team of Clinical Teaching Fellows who help deliver the Cardiology/Cardiothoracic undergraduate blocks. The Teaching Fellows will also help support students undertaking Self-Selected Components (SSC) and electives at the Golden Jubilee.

Chief Residents
The Chief Residents are a link between the Resident Doctors and the Education/Leadership Team and hold regular meetings and events for all of the Resident Doctors. Please feel free to contact them directly if you have any concerns or suggestions. They can be approached confidentially if needed.

The Medical Educational Forum
The whole Medical Education team meet every quarter to review and improve our programme. The group includes all of the education team including the Chief Residents and Clinical Teaching Fellows. The Forum, chaired by Dr Swan, is also one of the major components of our Educational Governance.
