Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service (SNAHFS)
The Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service (SNAHFS) is based at NHS Golden Jubilee in Glasgow and is commissioned by National Services Division of the Scottish Government. They are responsible for providing advanced heart failure therapies to appropriate patients throughout Scotland, from the Borders to the Shetland Islands.
These therapies currently consist of cardiac transplantation, as well as recognised mechanical circulatory support (MCS) strategies, that are licensed as a “bridge” to transplant. These include veno-arterial extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) and short-term and long-term ventricular assist devices (VADs).
